The next step was to attach the axle to the frames.
It is made of a ½" wood dowel with a steel nail in one end and an aluminum notch in the other end (both lathed).
Refer to drawing #45GD-07 for dimensions.
For the placement of magnets I curved two 1¼" BWG#16 galvanized steel strips and fixed them to the cones with brass screws.
Refer to drawing #45GD-09.
Then I placed the magnets on the rim and secured them with electric tape.
